Books Written by Humans have Bias

ALL ART IS POLITICAL.

ALL WRITING IS POLITICAL.

ALL TECHNOLOGY IS POLITICAL.

The entire Apostasy Trilogy has been written with politics in mind.

  • Yes, the interplanetary kleptocratic theocracy is political.
  • Yes, the all-knowing, all-watching artificial intelligence known as the Cirrocumlious is political.
  • Yes, the dehumanization of boys by a militaristic government for the sake of “national pride” and “national defense” is political.
  • Yes, the Anthropogenic environmental collapse preceding the Jackpot is political.
  • Yes, the two major camps during the Collapse, being the Krats (capitalists who allied with the Resonationists) and the Socialist Resistance is political.
  • Yes, the ruthless pursuit of technological progress, all costs be damned, is political.
  • Yes, the inclusion of far-right ideas (most obviously in the Network State inspired by the book “The Network State”) is political.

These are allegories to the world in which we are all forced to live. All writing is political, and all authors who attempt to claim their writing is apolitical are ignorant of what they have created, or are attempting to hide their own bias. This is not to say everything in the Trilogy is endorsed by me or believed by me, but it is to say that many of the narrative and backstory elements were chosen to tell a political story just as much as a sci-fi story. Sci-fi exists to tell a story as much as it exists to serve as a flashing red warning sign to humanity to “do not do this!” as we rapidly develop technology.

These books were written by a socialist. If you don’t like whatever you may consider to be “woke”, these are not books for you. Those are my biases, and I will forever be open about them instead of hiding behind the impossible ideals of supposedly unbiased “post-ideologicalism”.
